It’s been a long time since I updated my blog because I really haven’t had anything to write about. I’ve just about finished my fourth week of college and currently have a 4.0 which I’m very happy about; however, this could easily slip away if I don’t study for my upcoming math test on Wednesday. Right now I’m taking three classes, all of which I find interesting. My Human Development class is fascinating. We learn about human interaction in the work place. My math class is just as interesting as it always has been. But the best thing I’m taking right now is my Web Authoring class. Programming is perfect and logical in every way. Sadly it’s only twice a week, but it’s still lots of fun.
Starting earlier this week, a friend of mine and I starting working on a few songs. He fiddles away, and I tickle the ivory keys. We’re still sounding rather rusty but in his words, “Perfect practice, makes perfect.” Yeah yeah, i know, millions of people have said it before, but it’s very true.
Now, I regret to turn my thoughts towards filmmaking. I had a movie planned for this years film festival; however, things fell though and I’m not going to be able to make the film “Sedition” which more recently was renamed to “Laws of Anarchy”. The idea was, we were going to put in a prequel called “The Order of Anarchy”, but not all of our plans are meant to pass. By no means does this mean my filming career is over, I plan to return to the melancholy feeling of writing a script, filming with friends, and editing long nights for weeks straight. I wish I could say when, but I have no idea when I shall return to this place of creativity.
In the mean time, I plan on working on my book, which is still untitled. I’ve decided to change a few things around in the beginning. For starters it’s going to be set on the border between Sequim and a world of magic. For those of you who have not heard the synopsis here it is…
Drostan, a twenty-three year old college student, currently living in Sequim, WA, lives a normal life. One day, when trying to inject some sort of fun into is otherwise dull existence, he follows some friends up into some woods where there is said to be ghosts. From there he is sucked, unwillingly into a world of war. Magic is present but not so prevalent. Worried more about his grade and spouse on the other side of the time boundary, Drostan tries to find some possible way to get back to his small town; however it will be a journey that will send him through a war of immeasurable proportion.
A little cliche I know, but I’m working on that, I just haven’t had enough time to work on it. I’m hoping when I get more settled into my college routine, which has been fluctuating day to day for the last four weeks, ugh! I’ll get around to it sooner or later. I still have my previous book (Preordained) I need to rewrite the beginning too, and sum it up in two to three chapters instead of just two pages. I’m hoping to have it completed by summer when I take English 101. This way I could hand it to my teacher for reading.
On the topic of books, I just finished the most amazing audio book series, Star Wars:Legacy of the Force. I’m telling you, the audio book was like a movie, just with out the moving images. Sound effects, Music, actors (well just one guy reading the book, but he was so good you would forget that their were not two dozen different actors playing his own role). If I ever get a massive amount of star wars fans together and about $30,000-$100,000 I would most certainly attempt to make the first movie of this nine book series. It would have to be turned into three movies, and someone would have to do an amazing job of rewriting the books into script format, and then their is the issue of not having the original actors, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher. But these problems could probably be worked around. I would even drop $150,000 to make this film if there were enough people out there willing to make it. It would be a massive undertaking, BUT THE TALE IS JUST SOOOO EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone, please, I’m begging you, listen to the audio books! Right, I know I’m just going nuts here, but If I found 50 committed people, and I mean committed. I would definitely save up $250,000 to make this film. Sure it would take a long time but if we could pull it off, in a quality fashion. It would be extremely worth it. This is a semi-possible concept, because the job I’m going to be doing when I graduate will pay quite well.
Alright, I’m calming down now. Well, I think I just about summed up what has been going on in the last few weeks, nothing particular save but for college. So, talk to you in another month? Nah, just joking. I think I’ll have some stuff to post on here in the next week or so.
Yours,

Back to Preordained

Recently I have felt like going back to my book, and start the editing process. I’ve barely looked at it for almost ten months now, so I think it’s about time I complete the story. The ending was rather drab, because I was writing it for my English class, I had to quickly wrap up the whole book in two pages. When i started to really take a look at what I wrote, I had two emotions, “Wow, I wrote this?” and, “I hate this part.” I feel to hate parts of my book, is extremely ironic. For starters I plan on rewriting the first chapter, then getting one copy self published at Lulu.com, and continue my editing in the book, this way I would actually have a hardcopy of my book.
1 Week of High School, 5 Years of College

Greetings,
I was meaning to blog yesterday, but found that I didn’t have enough time, thus I deviated from my normal Monday blogging schedule. As school comes to a close, a slight sadness and melancholy feeling comes over me. Attending Sequim High School (SHS) as been an interesting experience, and I am looking forward to leaving. Several students as well as teachers have asked me why it is that I am so happy to go. Every time I’m completely baffled by the question and I begin to think that these people must have been in the public school system far too long. First off, college is where you actually begin to be educated, although I must say that SHS has an excellent math program, but that’s about it. Secondly, I finally get to be around a more educated level of people that are more reserved in several ways. I won’t have to put up with the low class garbage that every public school provides free of charge. These two preferences are the cornerstone of my reason for looking forwards to college.
Future Books
Yesterday I found myself pondering what I should write next. Should I turn preordained into a trilogy? (Even if I don’t do this first I plan on coming back and making it into a three part series. It’s just a matter of what I want to work on now). Should I begin writing my fantasy trilogy? Or should I write a novel, which at this time only has a name, Game Theory.
Preordained
I have recently decided that I should turn this into a three book series because I really want to explore the different aspects of the universe of Preordained. Not only that, three part series’ get published more often than not.
Fantasy Novel
I actually have the first five chapters of this book outlined. I started working on this about three to four months ago, but then stopped because other things got in the way of my writing. Recently I have updated it so It would be open to a wider audience. I have concluded that it should be more centered towards child to young adult readers from ages 10 to 17. Why this change? Children books sell like candy, not only that, look how many fantasy children books are turned into films-good films. Narnia, Harry Potter, The Golden Compass, the Spiderwick chronicles, and the Unfortunate events (although that’s not really fantasy). The list goes on, but you get the idea.
Game Theory
Game Theory is a book I started pondering yesterday, I’m not sure anything will come of it, but I will keep you informed.
Yours,
Jack
Mondays, Jazz and Preordained
Posted by J.S. Lewis in Life, Writing, preordained on June 2nd, 2008
Good morning everyone,
Ah yes, mornings, sometimes the worst, and sometimes the best part of ones day. But today is not just any morning, this is a Monday Morning, usually classified as “Bad Monday Morning” or “Quadruple Espresso Monday” or even worse, “Hangover Monday”. Thankfully this isn’t one of those mornings, although I did have a slight problem with getting to school today, ya see I missed my buss by mere seconds, and my car’s battery is dead, thus I am currently not sitting in my English class reading the Count of Monte Cristo. Other than this small problem, I have rather enjoyed this particular forenoon.
My Sunrise Schedule:
I usually rise around 5am, and head strait over to the coffee pot. From there, I go back to my room, and turn on the smooth jazz station on iTunes. Until I must depart for school, I tend to work on this or that for a few hours, maybe finish homework that I didn’t completed the night before. Really, my mornings are just about the most bland part of my day, but often the most important. I’m hoping that when I start college, my mornings will become slightly more interesting than the state of which they currently are in.
Preordained:
Preordained, as some of you may know, is a science fiction novel that I wrote over winter break. Though I call it a novel, it’s actually 2,500 words short of being called a novel, but from now until I graduate from Western Washington University, I plan to work on it until it’s completely perfect. Hopefully I will be able to get it published shortly after my graduation. Here’s a quick synopsis:
Kaden McMillan and his brother William, attend a special college for advance programmers. During their second year, several agents from a gaming company approach them and inquire if they would like to help program the first fully immersible virtual reality system. The two brothers accept, but towards the end of the systems completion, they discover a well hidden secret surrounding this so called “gaming company”. This discovery takes them on an adventure that spans galaxies.
It’s hard to say too much without giving the whole story away. I have considered turning this novel into a trilogy, this way I could truly explore all of the different cultures in the book, but then again, maybe my first book should only be one book in length. The whole goal of writing this was three fold. The first was to actually hand my English teacher a book for my assignment, this worked because the book was written in such a way that followed the assignment (originally I was going to get a copy of the book printed up and handed in to my teacher through a self-publishing company www.lulu.com). The second was to improve my writing skills, and I can tell you right now, that it most certainly did. The last was to have a script/story done in time for the film festival, this way I would have both my assignment and my script done by the end of winter break.
Here is the front cover of my book:

Anyway, I hope that within five years, everyone will be able to read this book,
Yours,
Jack
